Assemblymember Wallace Announces Additional Funding for Maryvale School District
Today, Assemblymember Monica P. Wallace (D-Lancaster) was joined by Maryvale Superintendent Joseph D’Angelo to announce that she has secured an additional $250,000 in state funding for the Maryvale School District.
“Few investments have a greater impact than ones made to public education,” said Wallace. “Through working with Superintendent D’Angelo, we were able to identify several projects that this funding will go toward that truly benefit the students of Maryvale.”
Maryvale plans to use the funding to provide transportation to academic and enrichment programs, establish 11 Advanced Placement courses and electives at the high school, repair and replace instruments for the music program, and train faculty and staff in restorative justice practices.
“On behalf of the students and faculty of Maryvale, I thank Assemblymember Monica Wallace for her ongoing support of public education and for her work to secure this funding for our school district,” said Maryvale Superintendent Joseph D’Angelo. “This funding will have a tremendous impact on the students of Maryvale, providing for new investments in academic programs, much needed instrument repairs and upgrades for the music program, and staff development designed to ensure our schools are a welcoming and safe environment. The Maryvale School District remains thankful for Assemblymember Wallace’s advocacy on behalf of students and her steadfast commitment to public education.”
“This funding is much more than a current expenditure,” said Wallace. “This is an investment in the students of Maryvale. It’s making sure they have the tools and resources they need to succeed. It’s a long-term investment in a strong labor force, strong communities, and in strong families. All New Yorkers benefit from educational investments like this.”
This funding is in addition to a $287,000 increase to foundation aid for Cleveland Hill that Wallace secured in the 2017-2018 state budget.
