Assemblymember Wallace Announces New Committee Assignment
“As a newly appointed member of the Assembly Committee on Consumer Affairs and Protection, I’ll be on the front lines when it comes to protecting New Yorkers from unscrupulous business practices. Having a direct say in legislation that addresses consumer issues is a responsibility that I do not take lightly, and I look forward to working with the committee as well as with consumers and advocates to strengthen our rights and protections.
“In the age of information and technology, consumer privacy is always at stake. In response to the federal government’s repeal of critical protections for internet users, I sponsored legislation to give New York consumers control over how their internet service providers (ISPs) use their information and allow them to sue if their rights are violated (A.7191-B). I’ll be pushing to pass it this year, as well as other bills that put consumers first.”
