Assemblywoman Nily Rozic Attends Ribbon Cutting at P.S. 162, Unveils Renovated Auditorium
Rozic allocated $250,000 in state capital funding for major auditorium upgrades at P.S.162 in Bayside–Project Completed
School leadership, students, and families, gather for ribbon cutting and performance
Queens, NY – Assemblywoman Nily Rozic (D, WF-Fresh Meadows) joined P.S.162 John Golden school leadership and families for a ribbon cutting to celebrate the completion of auditorium renovations materialized through a $250,000 state grant Rozic secured for the school. Following the ribbon cutting, students performed for their families in the newly equipped auditorium now fitted with electrical, audio, visual, lighting, and paint upgrades.
“Seeing the students of P.S.162 performing their hearts out in their newly improved space brings me great joy,” said Assemblywoman Nily Rozic. “This state investment has not only revitalized the school’s auditorium but has also allowed P.S. 162 to continue in its commitment to introducing and fostering the love of performing arts in our youth.”
“The John Golden family is deeply grateful for Assemblywoman Rozic’s unwavering support of PS162,” said Principal Eve Sci. “Because of her dedication to New York City public schools, we finally have a modern auditorium that honors the hard work of our students and staff as we celebrate the importance of Art in Education."
P.S.162 The John Golden School is located on 53rd Avenue in Bayside and offers classes from Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 5. Additional community investments recently announced by Rozic include $50,000 to South Asian Council for Social Services’ food pantry and community programming and $30,000 to Solomon Schechter School of Queens for a STEM and Robotics Lab.
