Rozic Statement on Fracking Ban in New York
In response to today’s announcement banning high-volume hydraulic fracturing in New York State, Assemblywoman Nily Rozic (D,WF-Flushing), a member of the Environmental Conservation Committee, issued the following statement:
“I commend Governor Cuomo for announcing a ban on high-volume hydraulic fracturing in New York State in the wake of the evidence delivered today by state commissioners regarding the serious health risks associated with fracking. This past June, I voted on a three year moratorium on fracking to fully assess the environmental and health impacts. The announcement proves that the environmental cost far outweighs any sort of economic benefit. As New Yorkers, we prioritize the preservation of our natural resources and the well-being of our communities.
This is a step in the right direction and I will continue working with environmental advocates to support renewable energy sources to power our great state.”
