Queens, NY – Assemblywoman Nily Rozic (D, WF-Fresh Meadows) welcomes Kevin Cho, her new hire in the Korean Community Liaison position, to help local Korean residents gain better access to government services. Cho will provide translation services, guide residents through government resources, and is working with the Korean community at-large. He is responsible for coordinating meetings for the Korean community as well as organizing other Korean-oriented events.

Kevin Cho is a 1.5 generation Korean-American who came to the United States at the age of 4. Prior to joining the Assemblywoman’s office, Kevin was formerly a Legal Services Associate and Community Organizer at the MinKwon Center for Community Action, a nonprofit, non-partisan civic advocacy organization based in Flushing, Queens. He hopes to use his experiences to continue assisting and serving the community.

According to the 2012 report by the Asian American Federation, the 25th Assembly District includes over 10,000 Korean residents.

“As New York’s Korean-American population continues to grow, it is critical that the community has real partners and a real voice in government. Bringing Kevin onto the team underscores how important that partnership is, on everything from expanding health and housing services to language access in education and government to protecting small businesses,” said Rozic.

He has already received positive feedback from the Korean community about the services he provides and is enjoying his position. “I’m so glad to be helping the Korean community get better connected with the State,” Cho added.
