Rozic Leads Queens Transportation Commissioner Garcia on Community Walk Through
Stops on tour included Flushing, Fresh Meadows, and Bayside
Flushing, NY– Assemblywoman Nily Rozic (D,WF-Fresh Meadows) welcomed the new Department of Transportation Queens Borough Commissioner, Nicole Garcia, to her district this week to see firsthand the issues of concern to the community and to urge repairs to roads and infrastructure. This visit follows Rozic’s letter to Commissioner Garcia requesting a tour. Community advocates and local residents met with Rozic and Commissioner Garcia at each stop to directly speak to their transportation needs. Multiple locations were visited throughout the district – including the traffic circle at 188th Street and 64th Avenue in Fresh Meadows, IS237 in Flushing, and various streets in Bayside Hills – to discuss traffic calming measures, pedestrian safety, and street repaving.
“Assembly District 25 is a vibrant community full of different neighborhoods with different needs. I want to be sure that faded crosswalks are repainted, potholes are filled, and streets are repaired in a timely fashion wherever it is necessary. I am grateful to the Commissioner for taking the time out of her busy schedule to hear from my neighbors about the transportation infrastructure needs that will make each street safer. I look forward to working with the Department of Transportation and Commissioner Garcia to ensure our concerns are heard,” said Assemblywoman Nily Rozic.
