New service is part of a comprehensive legislation to improve access to breast cancer screenings
July 19, 2016
Queens, NY – In response to the new ‘text line’ providing information for New Yorkers on where to get a breast cancer screening, Assemblywoman Nily Rozic (D,WF-Fresh Meadows) issued the following statement:
“New York residents may now text ‘GET SCREENED’ to the number 81336 to find the closest locations offering breast cancer screenings. This new law increases access to breast cancer screenings by requiring extended hours for all health care facilities providing certified mammography screening services and improves insurance coverage for such services,” said Rozic.
The text line is one component of legislation Rozic backed which was (Chap. 74) designed to improve the early detection and treatment of breast cancer. The bill was signed into law June 27th by Governor Cuomo and became effective immediately.
