Rozic Statement on Pedestrian Fatality in Flushing
January 12, 2017
Flushing, NY – In response to the news that a pedestrian was struck while crossing Main Street near 58th Avenue, Assemblywoman Nily Rozic (D,WF-Fresh Meadows) issued the following statement:
“I am deeply saddened to hear of this tragic death in my district and my heart goes out to those mourning. I am calling on the Department of Transportation to analyze and act to improve the safety of this intersection in a timely manner.
All too often we see budgetary and resource cuts in Eastern Queens resulting in a delay in these sorts of upgrades. It is high time the City makes the safety of Queens residents a priority so unnecessary deaths are prevented.”
The victim was 65 years old and passed at New York-Presbyterian/Queens from injuries sustained.
