Rozic Statement on Threats to Jewish Community Centers
February 22, 2017
New York, NY – Following continued bomb threats at Jewish Community Centers across the country and in New York, Assemblywoman Nily Rozic (D,WF-Fresh Meadows) released the following statement:
“The threats made against Jewish Community Centers are unacceptable and have no place in our communities, New York or the United States. My thoughts go out to those directly affected by these malicious acts. I will also be calling on the city and state to investigate these threats and report back to the legislature on what steps are being taken to deter them and to expand its work with law enforcement to counter bias and find effective mechanisms to educate and protect our community against hate. We need aggressive action to combat hate speech and hate crimes in our state."
A wave of threats leveled at JCCs occurred first at the end of January, with a new round of threats this week, forcing dozens of facilities to close.
