Rozic Pushes Appointment of Audiologist, Flushing Business Owner, to the NYS Hearing Aid Dispensing Advisory Board
Flushing, NY – To kick-off National Audiology Awareness Month, Assemblywoman Nily Rozic (D,WF-Flushing) announced her support for Dr. MarieAnn Zumpone-Weibley’s appointment to the New York State Hearing Aid Dispensing Advisory Board. Dr. Zumpone-Weibley is a New York State licensed audiologist and owner of Total Hearing Care L.L.C. in Rozic’s district.
“Throughout her career, Dr. Zumpone-Weibley has worked in numerous capacities across Queens – each one strengthening her expertise while being of service through education and volunteer work. Dr. Zumpone-Weibley has worked with Ear, Nose and Throat Associates of New York PC over 23 years establishing and building their successful department of Audiology. Her experience over the years lead to the founding of her own business further reflecting the leadership and initiative she has taken to improve services for the hearing impaired community. Her appointment to the New York State Hearing Aid Dispensing Advisory Board will be a valued addition for all New Yorkers.”

The New York State Hearing Aid Dispending Advisory Board consists of thirteen members who are appointed by the Secretary of State. The board operates under the Department of State’s Division of Licensing Services (DLS). DLS oversees the licensure, registration, and regulation of various occupations with the goal of protecting the health and welfare of New Yorkers across the state.
According to state law, four of the thirteen board members must be audiologists engaged in the dispensing of hearing aids for at least five years prior to their appointment. Following a vacancy that opened up at the beginning of the year, Rozic recommended the appointment of Dr. Zumpone-Weibley in a letter to Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie.
Since 1997, Dr. Zumpone-Weibley’s hearing aid dispensing practice, Total Hearing Care L.L.C., has serviced the Flushing community. Her practice conducts audiological testing on-site and offers multiples styles of hearing aids. Other locations in Queens include Astoria, Bayside, Forest Hills, Howard Beach, and Jackson Heights.
For over fifteen years, Dr. Zumpone-Weibley has been a member of the New York State Speech-Language Hearing Association – the largest regional association of licensed audiologists and speech-language pathologists in New York State. She has occupied various positions within the organization and is the 2016-2017 President. Her appointment to the New York State Hearing Aid Dispensing Advisory Board will be confirmed in the next several months.
