Rozic Appointed to Assembly’s Workgroup on Sexual Harassment
New York, NY – In response to the announcement that the Assembly will convene a workgroup to address sexual harassment, Assemblywoman Nily Rozic (D,WF-Fresh Meadows) issued the following statement:
“The proposals that have come forward over the past few months reflect a commitment from the State Legislature to combatting sexual harassment in a manner that protects survivors while holding abusers accountable. I thank Speaker Heastie for convening this workgroup and providing a new opportunity for us to determine next steps that the Assembly can take moving forward.”
Rozic was appointed by Speaker Carl Heastie along with 14 of her Assembly colleagues. The workgroup will review sexual harassment issues and policy proposals throughout the remainder of this year’s legislative session. Last Fall, Rozic authored and introduced legislation (A8752) to protect models in the fashion industry from sexual and other forms of harassment. She has also introduced legislation (A8765/S6382A) with State Senator Brad Hoylman (D-Manhattan) that would prohibit employers from utilizing non-disclosure agreements to conceal incidents of sexual harassment, as well as legislation (A8910/S7193) with State Senator Liz Kruger (D-Manhattan) that would establish sexual harassment prevention training protocols within the private sector.
