Rozic Provides Safety Masks to Essential Community Organizations
Queens, NY This week, Assemblywoman Nily Rozic (D,WF--Queens) dropped off boxes of surgical masks to various community partners, including Queens Center for Progress, Self Help Community Services, Inc. and South Asian Council for Social Services. The safety equipment will be used for home health aides, essential workers, and food pantry employees and volunteers working through the public health emergency.
We should not have workers on the frontline pay the price by having to go to work absent protective gear. Health care workers, home aides and social service providers are essential and support our community every single day, said Assemblywoman Rozic. As they continuously work to keep all New Yorkers safe and healthy, the least we can do is get them the equipment they need.
Staff at group homes, volunteer workers and local non-profits have had to secure masks, gloves and other PPE through their own funding or charitable donations during the coronavirus outbreak. The protective masks were donated in partnership with the Office of the Queens Borough President and GNYADA.
