Assemblymember Hunter Elected President of the National Council of Insurance Legislators

Assemblymember Pamela Hunter (D-Syracuse) was recently elected president of the National Council of Insurance Legislators (NCOIL), bringing her experience to an organization that helps shape public policy on insurance and financial services nationwide.

“I am honored to be elected President of NCOIL and continue the stellar momentum we’ve observed over the last several years,” Hunter said. “I am excited to take on this new leadership role and work with my colleagues to help develop fair and thorough insurance-related public policy.”

Elected alongside Hunter was Minnesota Sen. Paul Utke as vice president, Louisiana Rep. Edmond Jordan as treasurer and Utah Rep. Jim Dunnigan as secretary. The elected officers stepped into their new roles after NCOIL’s annual meeting in San Antonio, Texas.

NCOIL CEO Commissioner Tom Considine said, “We are very fortunate to have this officer group the membership has elected. Pam Hunter is a proven leader here at NCOIL both as an officer and during her years as a very effective policy committee chair.”

NCOIL is a bipartisan legislative organization comprised of lawmakers serving on state insurance and finance committees across the country. Some of NCOIL’s efforts include educating legislators on insurance issues, assisting with interstate cooperation among legislators, and improving the quality of insurance regulation.
