“The fight for education justice is now more important than ever with Governor Cuomo’s proposal to change the Foundation Aid formula. These changes would completely eliminate any obligation within the formula to provide the level of funding necessary to give students the education they need to thrive in a 21st-century economy. While his intentions mean well, many school districts were already hurt by the spending gap between rich and poor school districts, which has grown and hit a record level in New York State.

“We must refuse to allow any more damage to our schools, and we must work together to reverse the damage that’s already been done by fighting for the future of our public schools. It’s not going to be easy, especially when our new U.S. Education Secretary taking an active stance against public schools. But as your elected official, I will continue to work with my colleagues in Albany to ensure public schools receive the funding they deserve and our children continue to receive a quality education regardless of their zip code.”
