Assemblymember Steck Held Emergency Preparedness Training in Colonie
Today, Assemblymember Phil Steck held an emergency preparedness training at the Colonie Senior Center in partnership with the American Red Cross.
“Ensuring you and your loved ones are prepared for an emergency is vital. Whether it is a natural disaster, such as a flood or tornado, or a man-made disaster, like a house fire, knowing how to respond properly can save your life and those closest to you,” said Assemblymember Steck. "That is why today, I held an event in partnership with the Red Cross to ensure those in the 110th district are equipped with the skills to respond should an emergency arise.”
At the training, professionals from the Red Cross trained constituents to “Be Red Cross Ready” by recommending essential supplies needed to respond to an emergency, how to make an effective plan in case of an emergency, and other lifesaving skills.
"We are so grateful to Assemblymember Phil Steck and the Colonie Senior Center for partnering with us. The Red Cross knows first-hand how critical it is to be prepared.Together we are building more resilient communities," said Kevin Coffey, Regional Chief Executive Officer, American Red Cross Eastern New York Region.
In addition to today's event, Assemblymember Steck, in partnership with the Red Cross, will hold an additional training seminar at the Ancient Order of Hibernians in Schenectady on August 22nd from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.
“I want to thank the American Red Cross team not just for their assistance today, but for their incredible work in responding to disasters in New York State and throughout the country," said Steck. "I would also like to thank the Colonie Senior Center for hosting today's training and all who attended. For those who could not make it today and are interested in learning more, I encourage you to attend our next training in August."
