Assemblymember Phil Steck Secures $150,000 in State Budget to Support Senior Transportation at Colonie Senior Services Center

Funding to help offset costs for critical door-to-door services

Colonie, NY – Earlier today, Assemblymember Phil Steck joined Diane Conroy-LaCivita, Executive Director of the Colonie Senior Service Centers (CSSC), and local seniors at The Beltrone Living Center to present a $150,000 ceremonial check to the organization. The funds will support the CSSC’s transportation program, which provides more than 25,000 rides annually to seniors throughout the community.

The event, held outdoors alongside a portion of CSSC’s fleet of 15 vehicles, celebrated the importance of accessible, door-to-door transportation for older adults. The funding will help offset key expenses including maintenance, insurance, and overall vehicle upkeep.

“Our seniors rely on these services for everything from doctor appointments to groceries to social activities,” said Assemblymember Steck. “I'm proud to have secured this funding so CSSC can continue delivering safe, reliable rides to those who need it most. Supporting the independence and dignity of older adults in our community is a top priority.”

CSSC’s transportation program plays a vital role in the lives of many vulnerable seniors, offering trusted drivers and dependable access to essential destinations. The service has become a cornerstone of support for aging residents in Colonie and beyond.

“We are deeply grateful to Assemblyman Steck for championing this vital transportation funding,” said Diane Conroy-LaCivita, CSSC Executive Director. “His ongoing steadfast support ensures greater access and mobility for those we serve and strengthens our community in meaningful ways. Thank you for making a lasting impact through your leadership.”
