Assemblymember Phil Steck (D-Colonie) announced that he was awarded a perfect score of 100 by the Environmental Advocates of New York (EANY), a leading environmental advisory group in the state.

“I am honored to be recognized by the Environmental Advocates of New York because I believe it’s essential to support legislation that will protect our natural resources for generations to come,” Assemblymember Steck said. “We need to put ourselves on a path that ensures our environment isn’t irrevocably and unnecessarily harmed.”

Every year, Environmental Advocates of New York grades New York State lawmakers according to their votes on bills that could help or harm our air, land, water, wildlife and health. Grades are then published in its Voters’ Guide, which has been produced and distributed for roughly 40 years and is the only scorecard of its kind. Based in Albany, the group monitors state government, evaluates proposed laws and champions policies and practices that ensure the responsible stewardship of our shared environment.

Assemblymember Steck has sponsored a number of environmentally responsible bills including the New York Sun Act (A.5060), which establishes a solar energy incentive and finance program as well as the Alternative Energy Management Planning Act (A.1278), which requires municipalities to consider using alternative energy sources in the construction of new municipal buildings.

“Environmentally responsible legislation remains a priority of mine in the Assembly,” said Assemblymember Steck. “And I will continue to be an advocate and a steward of our environment.”
