With the governor set to deliver his 2014 budget address on Tuesday, Assemblymember Steck (D-Colonie) will be paying close attention to what increases in education aid are proposed.

“I believe public schools can offer a high quality of education for our children and the ability to teach our children to the best of our ability takes investments from the state,” Assemblymember Steck said. “Instituting a property tax cap has helped alleviate burdensome costs for families, but it has left many of our school districts fiscally stressed. Investing in education is the appropriate step for the state to take, and I look forward to hearing the governor’s proposal.”

The governor is set to deliver his budget address Tuesday at 2:00. This is the official start of the budget season, and Assemblymember Steck will be present. The Assembly will then create its own budget proposal in which Assemblymember Steck will continue to make education a top priority. If he believes the executive proposal falls short, he will fight for each district’s fair share of aid.
