Palmesano Welcomes NASCAR and Watkins Glen International Representatives to the Assembly Floor

Assemblyman Phil Palmesano (R,C-Corning) recently welcomed a group of officials from NASCAR and Watkins Glen International (WGI) Racetrack to Albany. Representing WGI were President Dawn Burlew, Fiona Krenzer and Michelle Benjamin. Representing NASCAR was Dan Klenetsky. They were in Albany to promote a new, bipartisan Motorsports Legislative Working Group. The working group aims to recognize the importance of motorsports to New York state’s culture and economy as well as celebrate and advocate for motorsports and community racetracks.

“It was my honor to welcome Dawn, Dan, Fiona and Michelle to the state Capitol. WGI is a gem, and having WGI in my district, I know firsthand what WGI not only contributes to our local, regional economy but to the entire state economy as well. We have more than 20 motorsports venues across the state, and I understand just how vital they are to local communities and economies. Our bipartisan working group and I will advocate for a better and stronger partnership between the state and the motorsports industry in New York to help ensure their preservation and continued success and to help keep such a great tradition alive,” said Palmesano.
