Statement by Assembly Member Rebecca Seawright

"I am sickened by the recent targeted anti-Semitism attack on the Chabad Israel Center's ice carved menorah which was senselessly smashed by cowardice vandals. While families gathered together and celebrated the miracles of Hanukkah, cowards gathered to perpetrate hate fueled vandalism against our community. We must condemn these actions in one unified voice and make it clear that hate has no place in New York. I was proud to sponsor legislation that was passed and signed by Governor Hochul to mandate counseling to individuals convicted of a hate crime to help address these horrific incidents of intolerance. I stand in solidarity with the Chabad Israel Center and those affected by this act and wish for a blessed Hanukkah."
