Assemblywoman Rebecca Seawright issued the following statement on International Women's Day:

"As we celebrate women's social, economic, cultural, and political achievements on International Women's Day 2021, it's time to reaffirm our commitment to the Equal Rights Amendment. I'm proud to be the Assembly sponsor of the ERA amendment to the New York State Constitution to prohibit the denial of equal rights based on sex, guaranteeing women equal rights. The measure would also guard against rollbacks of women's rights in health, employment, domestic violence, and education. We also must have protections at the federal level. "Choose to Challenge" is the theme for the 2021 Women's Day celebration. Our challenge must be to make the ERA a reality in New York and across the nation."
