Sand Lake Breaks Ground on Largest Park Enhancement in Town’s History

On Wednesday, Assemblyman Scott Bendett (R,C-Sand Lake) joined the Town of Sand Lake to launch the Sand Lake Improved Parks Project (SLIPP), the largest park enhancement initiative in the town’s history. The groundbreaking ceremony took place at the Town of Sand Lake Walking Trails Park, with community members, local leaders and supporters in attendance.

The project will add seven new soccer fields, a concession stand, a dog park and a community forest with walking and hiking trails. SLIPP was made possible through the support of Bendett’s office, the Rensselaer Plateau Alliance and Averill Park Youth Soccer. The transformative project seeks to enhance recreational opportunities for local families and ensure future growth for youth sports programs.

“This is an exciting day for the Town of Sand Lake,” said Bendett. “SLIPP will provide our youth with dedicated soccer fields and facilities and create a beautiful space for residents to connect with nature. This project represents what’s possible when we invest in our parks and work together to strengthen our community.”

The project marks a significant milestone in the town’s commitment to creating accessible and vibrant green spaces for its residents, which has been a common theme in Bendett’s legislative record across the district.
