‘The Gray Area’ Discusses Outstanding High School Athletics and Cultural Activities this Week
Assemblyman Scott Gray (R-Watertown) released the latest episode of “The Gray Area” video series. In this week’s episode, Gray discusses the four local women’s basketball teams and three local men’s basketball teams that have played or are set to play in the 2024 New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA) Girls and Boys Basketball state tournaments, as well as highlights those who participated in other statewide competitions such as the New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA).
“I want to formally recognize those participating in statewide competitions. For those who reach the pinnacle of competition, we roll out the red carpet and encourage chamber visits, resolutions, introductions and photos in the Assembly Chamber. Watch the Gray Area to see which schools will be participating in the 2024 NYSPHSAA Girls and Boys Basketball state tournaments—good luck to all the athletes!”
“On the cultural side, I would like to congratulate Alexandra Ives from Thousand Island Central School. She was a participant in NYSSMA and has accomplished an outstanding achievement. We’re all incredibly proud of her and it was an honor to have her in the capital this week to perform live to all the student-athletes and students in cultural and arts activities.”
“We had a lot of different groups come in to visit this week such as United University Professions, New York State United Teachers, New York State Nurses Association, Farm Bureau, Taste of New York, North Country Chamber of Commerce, New York State Occupational Therapy Assistants and the New York State Correctional Officers and Police Benevolent Association. The highlight of our week was having a group of highway superintendents here in the capital, who were my audience for the Gray Area this week!”
“Look out for next week’s episode of The Gray Area as we continue to update you on what you care about. We always appreciate the opportunity to serve you and to work with you. Don’t hesitate to call my office staff with questions, comments or concerns—see you soon,” Gray concluded.
