Parks Hits Reset Button on Vessel Contract
MetalCraft Marine will have an opportunity to compete
Assemblyman Scott Gray (R-Watertown) is pleased to announce the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation (OPRHP) will be readministering its law enforcement vessel procurement process. This decision comes after a contract, which inadvertently disqualified the bid from New York state boat builder MetalCraft Marine, was rescinded.
In a recent conversation with Randy Simons, acting commissioner of the OPRHP, it was confirmed that the existing contract has been nullified and will be reissued with new specifications in April. This action comes as a relief to all parties involved, ensuring a fair and competitive bidding environment.
“MetalCraft Marine, a reputable company with a proven track record in manufacturing high-performance boats, will now have the opportunity to participate in the restructured bidding process. The decision to reset and reissue the contract underlines the OPRHP’s commitment to integrity and equal opportunity in its procurement practices,” said Gray.
Gray would like to thank Acting Commissioner Randy Simons and New York State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli for their dedication to building trust and transparency within our state government. The collaborative effort between state agencies ensures taxpayers’ interests are protected.
“The readministering of the vessel contract is not only a win for fair business practices and our community but also emphasizes New York’s pledge to uphold the highest standards of governmental accountability. The new bidding process is anticipated to attract a diverse range of submissions from qualified manufacturers, ultimately benefiting the state’s law enforcement capabilities,” Gray said.
“Assemblyman Gray, it is great news that the NYS Parks department will be re-issuing the bid for their boats. All we ever wanted was a transparent and fair process. That is exactly what we are now getting thanks to your tireless efforts. You certainly care about the people of NYS and make a real positive difference. On behalf of our entire team and many local suppliers: thank you very much!” said Michael Allen, MetalCraft Marine US Inc. General Manager.
Gray remains committed to ensuring New York state continues to promote a competitive and fair marketplace, where businesses of all sizes can contribute to the state’s growth and prosperity.
