Assemblywoman Pheffer Amato Honors Local Women at Annual ‘Women of Distinction Awards’

South Queens, NY – Assemblywoman Stacey Pheffer Amato hosted her annual ‘Women of Distinction’ event with a roaring success. The event highlights the remarkable contributions by women who work or reside within the 23rd Assembly District which encompasses communities from Ozone Park through Howard Beach, Broad Channel, and from Breezy Point to Far Rockaway. This year's recipients included: Danielle Allen, Gretchen Ferenz Fox, Enid Glabman, Rose Guerrier, Vincenza “Enza” Lupo, and Samantha Pullara.

“Women’s History Month may officially be in March, but I believe that women should be honored every day, every month, all year long,” said Assemblywoman Pheffer Amato to an audience filled with honorees, guests and even past recipients. “The honorees were nominated by members of our community who recognized their incredible work.

We’re here to publicly thank them and celebrate each other for our accomplishments. We have so many amazing women in this community who do so much - this is a great way to come together and thank them for their work and contributions,” said the Assemblywoman.

Assemblywoman Pheffer Amato's annual event has also served as a networking event, with past honorees talking and meeting with the newest cohort of honorees. “This is a way to give these amazing women the chance to connect and develop new partnerships which further helps them in their work to improve the community,” said the Assemblywoman. Past honorees in attendance included: Kathy Lawless, Jackie Stillwell, Felicia Johnson, Angela Nocerino, Jeanette Garramone, Arlene Cauley, Christina Lampropoulos, Tina Roseman Novick, Barbara Buffolino, Karen Nevirs, Elizabeth Stoehr, Patricia Jones, and Sophia Skeans.

The six recipients for 2025 were chosen from a wide variety of nominees, each being personally presented with a gorgeous orchid and an official State Proclamation from Assemblywoman Pheffer Amato. “Orchids are like women: they’re beautiful and graceful, but also resistant and strong-willed. Those characteristics also describe this year's winners who devote themselves to their community and exemplify the best of the New York spirit,” said the Assemblywoman during the reception. “The people of the 23rd Assembly District have greatly benefited from the work of these incredible women, and often without even knowing it. We have teachers who have helped foster children's growth, advocates and fundraisers who have been responsible for diseases and causes getting elevated attention and funding, community advocates who have raised the voices of their neighbors and made sure their problems are not ignored - and doing this all while putting the needs of others ahead of themselves. I think we all owe Danielle, Gretchen, Enid, Rose, Enza, and Samantha a huge thank you for their amazing work in making our community and State a better place to live,” said Assemblywoman Stacey Pheffer Amato.
