Assemblyman Will Barclay (R,C,I-Pulaski) announced today that legislation to protect our Second Amendment rights was rejected by the Assembly Majority during a Codes Committee meeting.

“This is another example of the Majority’s continued support of New York City special interests,” said Barclay. “All the SAFE Act has done is hassle responsible owners of firearms by undercutting their rights enshrined by our federal constitution.”

The Codes Committee rejected two bills to fully repeal the SAFE Act. Another bill would’ve granted an exemption to active-duty members of the armed forces, allowing them to possess weapons with high-capacity magazines.

“This is another sign that the Assembly Majority remains inflexible and entrenched in their misplaced priorities,” said Barclay.
