Barclay Advocates for Funds for Homeowners at End of Session
A statement from Assemblyman Will Barclay (R,C,I-Ref-Pulaski) in response to funding for property owners affected by flooding on Lake Ontario
For the second time in three years, the flooding of Lake Ontario has resulted in devastating property damage and shoreline destruction. In order to provide some relief, I have advocated for state financial and technical assistance to the homeowners and businesses that have been impacted by the flooding. I am very pleased that an agreement has been reached with the Governor and my legislative colleagues to allocate $100 million to create economic opportunity for communities along the lake.
Additionally, although the exact parameters of the funding have not been defined, capital funds could be made available to assist homeowners and entities who suffered damage. In addition to my advocacy on behalf of the homeowners impacted by this catastrophic flooding, I will continue to push for the revocation of Plan 2014.
