Assembly Minority Leader Will Barclay Opens the 2020 Legislative Session

Today, Assembly Minority Leader Will Barclay (R,C,I,Ref-Pulaski) addressed his colleagues on the Assembly floor to discuss his hopes, expectations and goals for the 2020 Legislative Session. Leader Barclay stressed urgency regarding the need to close major holes borne from recent changes in criminal justice law that place the public in danger.
Leader Barclay also said it is a priority to close the states $6.1 billion budget gap without making New Yorkers tax burden any worse, as well as finding ways to immediately reduce the states massive debt obligation threatening our youngest residents.
Some legislative proposals on the 2020 Assembly Minority agenda include:
- Adjusting recent bail reform laws that allow dangerous individuals to walk free;
- Getting New York off the list of worst-taxed states in the U.S.;
- Reducing the states massive debt; and
- Making it more affordable to live in New York to help stem massive outmigration.
