Statement from Assembly Minority Leader Will Barclay on Veterans Day
“Today we commemorate Veterans Day, and we should take time to honor the courageous men and women who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces. As selfless defenders of the freedoms that define America and protect our lives and liberty, veterans deserve our collective gratitude and profound respect.
America is home to more than 18 million veterans who have given their blood, sweat and tears to ensure our lasting peace and prosperity. They serve all of us – regardless of race, creed, religion or background – to create a better world for future generations to inherit. Without those who answered the call of duty, so much we hold dear would be at risk. Our veterans and their families bear a heavy burden for everything they have sacrificed for the common good and in defense of American ideals.
This Veterans Day, please take a moment to reflect on the enormity of their patriotism and love of country and express your appreciation to those who have served. We are forever in their debt.”
