Assemblyman William B. Magnarelli (D-Syracuse) was chosen by the New York Conference of Italian-American State Legislators to serve as President of their organization for a two year term. Magnarelli previously served on the Executive Committee of this Conference, which for the past thirty-three years has highlighted the history and proud heritage of New York’s Italian-Americans.
“I am honored to serve as President of this outstanding organization, which does so much to promote our Italian culture and statewide diversity,” Magnarelli explained. “I look forward to being able to bring more attention to the people and culture of Central New York, which has a rich culture of Italian-American heritage”
The New York Conference of Italian-American State Legislators celebrates its thirty-fourth year of existence and has over fifty current members. Throughout the Legislative Session, the membership holds informative workshops, cultural forums, roundtable discussions, instructional lectures and an annual conference weekend designed to enhance the lives and aspirations of New York’s Italian American Community. The Italian-American State Legislators provide a scholarship program for students attending New York universities, and the Conference also serves as the State Legislature’s official liaison to the Italian Government and Vatican City.
“I look forward to leading this outstanding conference,” Magnarelli said. “I am excited to work with my conference colleagues to promote our legislative agenda and to celebrate the Italian-American heritage throughout New York State.”
