Magnarelli: $700,000 Grant to Rehab Onondaga County Homes on its Way
Assemblyman Bill Magnarelli (D-Syracuse) announced that a $700,000 grant was awarded to the Empire Housing and Development Corporation for the purpose of rehabbing 35 housing units in Onondaga County. The grant was approved today by the New York State Affordable Housing Corporation and will go toward the Syracuse Purchase-Rehab Program.
“Providing affordable housing is essential to the renewal and economic recovery of Central New York,” Magnarelli said. “This grant will help meet the needs of hardworking New Yorkers who want to invest and live in the community, but face rising, unaffordable housing costs.”
Magnarelli noted he also supports the governor’s budget proposal to dedicate $100 million to jumpstart projects in Upstate New York that will provide affordable housing.
“Building and rehabbing more affordable homes will go a long way towards revitalizing our communities and helping keep families close to home,” Magnarelli concluded.
