Magnarelli Helps Secure Additional State Funding for Local Governments
Geddes, Solvay, Baldwinsville, Van Buren to receive 5% increase of Aid and Incentives to Municipalities (AIM) Program which helps ease taxpayer’s burden
Syracuse – New York State Assemblyman William B. Magnarelli (D-120th) announced that the Town of Geddes, Village of Solvay, Village of Baldwinsville and Town of Van Buren will receive a 5 percent increase over last year’s New York State funding.
“Our local governments are among many that need fiscal assistance,” Magnarelli said. “This funding will ease the towns and villages’ burden so that it isn’t carried over to property taxpayers.”
AIM eases the property tax burden by sending funding to local municipalities to help them meet their financial needs. By bolstering state aid to the towns and villages, the local economy becomes healthier and ensures a fiscally sound government.
Towns and Villages 2008-09 5% increase:
- Geddes - $6,339
- Solvay - $8,952
- Baldwinsville - $2,783
- Van Buren - $5,163
“Now more than ever, our towns need this help to provide for the community and help ease the burden on taxpayers,” Magnarelli said. “It’s important that we do everything we can, especially in these difficult economic times, to protect property taxpayers from taking the hardest hit.”
