Magnarelli: $2.3M in CHIPs Funding for Syracuse Will Help Improve Transportation
Towns, Villages Saw Average of 21 Percent Increase over Last Year
“The State legislative budget includes $4.7 million in funding for Onondaga County in the Consolidated Local Street and Highway Improvement Program (CHIPs), with $2.3 million for the City of Syracuse and close to a 21 percent increase for the towns of Geddes and Van Buren, and Villages of Solvay and Baldwinsville. In total, Onondaga County saw almost a 14 percent increase from last year’s budget.
“Statewide, the final budget includes more than $363 million in funding for CHIPs, restoring $10 million in cuts from the executive budget and providing $50 million more than last year. This funding will go a long way in helping our municipalities repair and build highways, bridges and highway-railroad crossings, and will help keep roads safe for Central New York families on the move.
