Magnarelli Helps Secure Funds for SUNY Capital Projects
SUNY Upstate Medical University will receive over $130 million; SUNY ESF to receive more than $30 million
Assemblyman Bill Magnarelli (D-Syracuse) announced today that the budget includes over $130 million for several of SUNY Upstate Medical University’s capital projects including a research lab addition and a new academic building.
The budget also includes more than $30 million in capital funding for the College of Environmental Science and Forestry. The funding will go toward a number of projects in the school’s Vision 2020 plan including: a new Gateway Building; a new academic building; the Adirondack Ecological Center and the Student Recreation Center at Ranger School.
“Central New York has many world class institutions of higher education that we must continue to invest in,” said Magnarelli. “Continuing our commitment to higher learning will help our children compete in the global economy and bolster Central New York’s local economic outlook.”
