Magnarelli Saves Hundreds of Local Jobs through Power for Jobs Program
Assemblyman Bill Magnarelli (D–Syracuse) announced today that AT&T Corporation will receive 750 kilowatts in low-cost power under New York’s Power for Jobs program, saving 651 jobs.
“High utility costs have led to the loss of many jobs in New York, and in some cases forced local companies to relocate,” Magnarelli said. “Low-cost power helps businesses keep costs down, remain competitive and keep good-paying local jobs.”
The Power for Jobs program offers low-cost power to businesses and not-for-profit corporations that pledge to create and retain local jobs. Power is allocated through the New York State Economic Development Power Allocation Board.
“Power for Jobs will bring some relief to a major local employer amid tough economic times,” Magnarelli said. “Power for Jobs helps Central New York businesses keep us working.”
