NYSA Seal A message from
Assemblyman Philip Ramos. . .

Dear Neighbor,

The community has raised its voice against the proposed Long Island Truck-Rail Intermodal facility in Brentwood.

This project will have disastrous implications for our community. As you know, existing construction projects and poor planning have already made traffic in our neighborhoods unbearable. This project will only exacerbate the problem.

While Department of Transportation officials claim that public health will improve across Long Island due to less traffic congestion and reduced emissions, they fail to mention that all of these existing problems will only get worse in Brentwood because of this project.

Maintaining Brentwood’s
quality of life

In addition, this project will negatively affect the neighboring Edgewood-Oak Brush Plains Nature Preserve, the largest remaining parcel of oak brush habitat in New York State. Several species found in the preserve are on the State’s endangered, threatened and special concern lists including the Cooper’s Hawk, Eastern Box Turtle, Barrens Buck Moth and Yellow-breasted Chat.

I need your help sending the message to the Department of Transportation that we do not need an intermodal facility in our neighborhood. As always, I will continue working to make sure our community’s voice is heard and will continue fighting to keep Brentwood a great place to live and raise a family.

Sincerely,
