On Friday, March 21, 2008 at 2:00 pm New York State Assemblyman Philip Ramos will conduct a special ceremony memorializing the men and women who have lost their lives fighting in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Since the start of the two wars, the communities of Brentwood, Bay Shore, and Central Islip have been hit especially hard with the deaths of six soldiers. To recognize their service and sacrifice to our country Assemblyman Ramos - who represents all three towns in the State Assembly - will unveil a monument featuring the names of these fallen heroes. The monument will be placed outside his District Office on 1010 Suffolk Ave. in Brentwood during the ceremony and remain there for the public to see.

In addition, Ramos will present the family of the Late PFC. Jose Ruiz with the New York State Conspicuous Service Cross. PFC. Ruiz was killed by small-arms fire while conducting security operations in Mosul, Iraq.

Families and friends of the fallen heroes, community leaders, and the public at large are invited to attend the ceremony. Following is a list of members of the armed forces from the 6th Assembly District who fought in either the Afghanistan or Iraq war and are no longer with us.
