Assemblyman David G. McDonough (R,C,I-Merrick) and his minority
colleagues from Long Island hosted a forum at the Merrick Library to
discuss New York's laws dealing with protecting our community from
sexual predators and what the Legislature could do to improve those
protections.
"The best way to protect our children and community is by
conducting forums like this," said McDonough, the co-chairman
of the Assembly Minority Sex Offender Watch Task Force. "We
can gather information from advocacy groups, school district
representatives, law enforcement and prosecutors on what laws are working
and where we can improve the protections necessary to keep all New Yorkers
safe."
