Kids Helping Kids! Assemblyman David McDonough recently visited two elementary schools in Merrick to commend their Student Councils for participating in his 5th Annual Coats for Kids Drive that he conducts in association with the National Cleaners Association. Among this year's many participating groups and schools were the Chatterton Elementary School and, for the fifth year in a row, the Norman J. Levy-Lakeside Elementary School. Due to the hard work of the two school student councils, hundreds of coats were collected, which will go to needy and underprivileged children on Long Island. The students informed Assemblyman McDonough that it felt great to be able to help children who are less fortunate than they are. "I find it extremely heartwarming that these young people were so giving and generous in order to help others. They are to be commended for their generosity and hard work," said Assemblyman McDonough. Pictured are the students from Chatterton Elementary School and the Norman J. Levy-Lakeside Elementary School, respectively. |
