Dear Friend,
My role as your Assemblywoman and Chair of the State Assembly Ways and Means Committee is to advocate on your behalf over matters that directly affect you and your family. The past year and a half has been a true challenge for everyone, but rest assured, my highest priority continues to be serving you and your neighbors to the best of my ability: I am here for you.
Thankfully, due to the high level of vaccination, my office has been able to resume many of the most popular services such as the Half-Fare MetroCard visit, working with the wonderful nurses at Mount Sinai Brooklyn to administer free Flu Shots at the Kings Bay Y and Philip Howard Building, and the return of our super successful Paper Shredding program.
In order to keep up on the latest from my office, sign up for my e-newsletter. You can do so by calling (718) 648-4700 or emailing me at weinsth@nyassembly.gov.
Keep safe and stay healthy!
Sincerely,
Consumer Credit Fairness Act Finally Law
Assemblywoman Weinstein is elated to announce that, over a decade after originally authoring the Consumer Credit Fairness Act (CCFA), and after years of championing the unprecedented protection it would afford to consumers, the CCFA has finally been signed by Governor Hochul and will be enacted into law.
The CCFA protects consumers from wrongful debt collection by:

The NYS Homeowner Assistance Fund (#NYSHAF) will begin accepting applications to help homeowners affected by #COVID19, on January 3rd.
The New York State Homeowner Assistance Fund (NYS HAF) is a federally funded program dedicated to assisting homeowners who are at risk of default, foreclosure or displacement as result of a financial hardship caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Co-op and Condominium owners qualify!
The NYS HAF will provide homeowners who were affected by COVID-19 with several types of support:
Financial support to address delinquent housing payments that result in an affordable outcome;
Access to a Call Center and case managers who can help you find out about any mortgage relief you may be entitled to and how it will affect your future housing payments; and
Referrals to professional housing counselors or legal service providers who are experts in this field.
To learn more about the program and sign up for email updates, visit http://nyhomeownerfund.org or call 1-844-77-NYHAF.
NYS HAF expects to receive significantly more applications than can be funded by the program. Applications will be processed in the order they were received. Application submission does not guarantee you will receive financial assistance.

Assemblywoman Weinstein has worked hard, and is proud, to maintain a safe residential Assembly District, and takes seriously any efforts to disrupt our quality of life.
Over the past few months, the Assemblywoman has joined her constituents in protesting the inclusion of convicted sex-offenders in a local hotel, preventing a local bar from obtaining liquor license amendments that would allow it stay open and blasting music until the early morning hours, and fighting developers who wished to build a grossly out of character 9-floor housing development in a relatively quiet and overwhelmingly residential area.
If you or your neighbors have an issue that poses a similar risk to your quality of life, please reach out to the Assemblywoman’s office.
You can apply for the Senior Half-Fare MetroCard if you are 65+ or have a Qualifying Disability
