Assemblywoman Sandy Galef Discusses the Teatown
	Lake Reservation on "Dear Sandy"
(August 11, 2009) Assemblywoman Sandy Galef hosts Dr. Fred Koontz, Executive Director of
Teatown Lake Reservation on her public access program, "Dear Sandy." The Teatown Lake Reservation
is a local environmental organization with the largest nature preserve in Westchester County and an
education center. Galef and Koontz talk about the role that Teatown serves in its community
including environmental education, conservation work on the Hudson Hills and Highlands, and the
Environmental Stewardship Program.
"Teatown has always been at the forefront of environmental education in our community and
their conservation efforts have encouraged others to join in the fight to save what is left of our
irreplaceable ecosystem," said Galef.
Recently, Koontz's work has focused on the Hudson Hills and Highlands, but Galef and Koontz
also discuss preservation efforts in the lower Hudson region and many of the other activities
happening regularly at Teatown.
"All the services that Teatown provides make it an invaluable resource to our community.
Teatown Reservation not only educates over 12,000 children and adults each year, but thousands of
people regularly visit to hike, enjoy the scenery and explore this beautiful preserve," Galef
concluded.
