Steve Hawley is leading the way to restore responsibility in government.
Lead by Example
Our Assemblyman, Steve Hawley, is leading by example. Steve says, “With people losing jobs, working
two or more jobs and government taxing us to death, we need to lead by example: not just talk the
talk, but actually walk it.”
- Introducing and passing legislation to save taxpayer dollars without reducing services by allowing local courts to share facilities;
- Creating innovative new, free programs, such as the “Albany Comes to Your School” power point presentation, so schools that cannot afford to send students on field trips to Albany can still experience the State Capitol and learn about the legislative process; and
- Rejecting the recently increased “daily stipends” for officials to travel to and from Albany.
Stop the Spending
This year’s budget was the most expensive in state history and the most irresponsible. Not only did
our Assemblyman vote “no,” he also proposed a catalog of cost-saving solutions, such as merging
certain state agencies like the Department of Transportation with the Thruway Authority; drafting
new legislation to remove the $50 fee to “allow” businesses to collect state-mandated sales taxes;
and Steve’s petition drive to stop the 2 percent utility tax. Over 5,000 signed petitions are
already flooding in-call Steve’s office to add your voice!
Provide Relief Where it Counts Most
Tough times call for tough measures, but Steve Hawley knows that giving $200 hand-outs for school
supplies is not going to solve our state’s fiscal plight. We need to invest in job-creating
economic development and here, in Western New York, that means agriculture and manufacturing.
Steve also knows we need relief from Albany’s mandates, such as the recent “burn ban.” Our
Assemblyman sponsors and supports two new bills (A.7414 and A.9213) to reverse the burn ban and he
will continue to ardently oppose this and other intrusive mandates.
Join Steve Hawley in his fight to restore responsibility in our government.
