The DPS plays an essential role in the regulation of electric, gas and steam service in New York. DPS assists the Public Service Commission (PSC) as it establishes service rates, investigates complaints by ratepayers and ensures safety standards are met by public utilities operating in New York. The hearing will examine how the enacted SFY 2010-2011 Budget has impacted the department's responsibilities and mission to ensure quality of service. Additionally, the hearing will focus on various energy efficiency, renewable energy and economic development programs administered by NYSERDA and PASNY.
Oral testimony will be accepted by invitation only. Ten copies of any prepared testimony should be submitted at the hearing registration desk. The Committee would appreciate advance receipt of prepared statements. Written testimony will also be accepted and may be sent to the contact person listed on the reply form and/or may be submitted at the hearing registration desk.
In order to further publicize these hearings, please inform interested parties and organizations of the Committee's interest in receiving written testimony from all sources.
