Budget Highlights

The Public Employment Relations Board was established under the Public Employees’ Fair Employment Act, known as the Taylor Law. The Board also provides unbiased hearing and decision making services in labor- management disputes.

The Public Employment Relations Board is included in the Public Protection and General Government appropriation bill.

State Operations

The Executive recommends a General Fund appropriation of $3,400,000, a decrease of $338,000, or nine percent from State Fiscal Year (SFY) 2003-04. This decrease is attributed to the elimination of excess appropriation authority added in SFY 2003-04 due to denial of the Public Employment Relations Board/State Employment Relations Board merger proposal. There is no loss of positions associated with this decrease.

Article VII

The Executive proposes legislation to establish a $75 filing fee for processing of declarations of impasse, requests for fact-finding, petitions for interest arbitration, and improper public employment practices brought to the Public Employment Relations Board.
