October 21, 2025 – Speaking at the grand opening of the new Timothy M. Grippen Veterans Resource Center on Binghamton’s Northside. The center is a unique one-stop shop for veterans’ support and services, with ten “tiny houses” on site. The $500K Assembly grant I secured is in recognition of the debt of gratitude we owe to our veterans.
October 14, 2025 – DOT Commissioner Marie Therese Dominguez was in town to help cut the ribbon on BC Transit’s six new battery-electric buses and announce additional funding for three more. These buses are cleaner running and much quieter than the current fleet.
October 13, 2025 – Stopped by the Future Innovators event at the Oakdale Commons as part of New Energy New York’s Battery Week.
October 13, 2025 – I was honored to serve as the Grand Marshal in Binghamton’s annual Columbus Day Parade. It was a wonderful day beginning with a flag raising, a parade, and ending with the Tournament of Marching Bands and Italian Festival.
October 9, 2025 – Visted BOCES to cut the ribbon on the new Trades Complex, which will help prepare students for the many skilled trade careers that are in high demand. I was happy to secure a $1.3M Assembly grant to support the project, funding a new training building, truck, and roadway.
October 3, 2025 – Speaking at Maine-Endwell’s AP Government class. They were a great group of students who asked a lot of engaging questions.
October 1, 2025 – Senator Lea Webb and I urged our constituents to provide feedback on NYSEG’s proposed rate increases by the October 24th deadline.
September 24, 2025 – At Cornell Cooperative Extension of Broome County to announce that the expansion of their Incubator Kitchen is underway. The $750K grant I secured will nearly triple the space for local food entrepreneurs to work, adding a walk-in cooler and another full kitchen.
September 23, 2025 – With my government partners at a press conference to express support for YWCA’s planned Intergenerational Campus near Carroll and Exchange Streets. The $250K Assembly grant I secured is a small part of what’s needed to complete the project; they need Low-Income Housing Tax Credits and other state supports to move it over the finish line.
September 16, 2025 – With CHOW Director Les Aylesworth at the CHOW Warehouse to announce a $50K grant I secured to support their food assistance efforts and promote their upcoming CHOW Hunger Walk.
September 13, 2025 – With coordinator Donny Wilkins at Binghamton’s annual Blues on the Bridge music festival.
September 9, 2025 – With SUNY Chancellor John King and my Senate and Assembly colleagues during a tour of SUNY Broome and Binghamton University. We learned about the impact of the new free tuition program for Community Colleges and the exciting battery research being done at BU.
September 8, 2025 – With members of the Assembly Committee on Science and Technology during our visit to BridgeGreen Upcycle in Endicott where we learned about their process of recycling lithium-ion batteries.
September 8, 2025 – Welcomed members of the Assembly Committee on Science and Technology to TechWorks in Binghamton where we saw their amazing collection of local artifacts such as the IBM mainframe, Link flight simulators, Apollo mission trainers, and more. We spent time with many of the original engineers who now volunteer at TechWorks to keep these machines running.
September 5, 2025 – Joined Ag & Markets Commissioner Richard Ball at the CHOW Warehouse to announce a $1.5M grant from our Food Access Expansion Program for the Council of Churches. With the goal of improving access to fresh and local food in areas with limited options, CHOW plans to purchase a new Mobile Market bus and create a new Commercial Kitchen to expand access to prepared meals.
September 3, 2025 – I welcomed Speaker Carl Heastie to Johnson City to announce a $1.2M Assembly grant for major renovations to the YMCA’s pool at their West Branch. These renovations became a priority after the Binghamton Branch pool was closed to make room for additional housing and needed shelter space.
August 30, 2025 – Had a great time at the American Civic Association’s annual Garlic Festival at Rec Park.
August 30, 2025 – Senator Lea Webb and I presented Porchfest organizers with a Legislative Resolution in honor of their 10th Anniversary.
August 29, 2025 – Had a great time volunteering with the UNICO crew at the GUSTO! Italian Festival in Little Italy.
August 27, 2025 – Senator Lea Webb and I presented Ross Park Zoo with a joint Legislative Resolution honoring their 150th Anniversary. We were also honored to each receive their “Protecting Our Future” Award for our support of the zoo.
August 25, 2025 – I visited Binghamton University’s NSF Energy Storage Engine booth at the New York State Fair to learn about their battery research collaboration.
August 22, 2025 – I had a great time at the New York State Fair with my Assembly colleagues and visiting all of our new Ag exhibits with Commissioner Ball.
August 21, 2025 – Stopped by Broome West Senior Center to help celebrate National Senior Citizen’s Day and see how a $50K Assembly grant I secured for the Broome County Office for Aging was used. They were able to purchase new kitchen and fitness equipment, a washer and dryer, laptops and more.
August 20, 2025 – I joined Stand With Me Assistance Dog Team Training to raise awareness about the public access rights that individuals with service dogs have. Stand With Me offers free on-site and virtual trainings for organizations to help make public spaces more accessible for all.
August 16, 2025 – Had a wonderful time at St. Mary’s Bazaar. There’s always great food, desserts, music, and gelato!
August 14, 2025 – I spent time at SUNY Broome for Healthy Broome’s Innovative Readiness Training, which prepares military medical personnel for real-world situations. It was an impressive operation, providing free medical, dental, and vision services to the community, along with veterinary care for pets.
August 11, 2025 – Celebrated the grand opening of the newly remodeled (and renamed) Grippen Community Park. I was happy to secure a $500K Assembly grant to help with this new year-round destination that features pickleball, an indoor track, a wiffle ball stadium, and more.
August 8, 2025 – Assemblyman Joe Angelino and I joined a sports field full of officials to discuss our support for legislation to increase penalties for crimes against umpires, referees, linesman, coaches, and others.
August 5, 2025 – Visited the Broome County Humane Society to see how they used an Assembly grant they received last year and announce a new grant that will help them make further upgrades.
August 3, 2025 – I was a celebrity judge for the spiedie cooking contest at the annual Spiedie Fest and Balloon Rally. Congratulations to Fox40 on their win!
July 30, 2025 – NYS Secretary of State Walter T. Mosley came to town to break ground on the restoration of the old Johnson City High School, which will be turned into 55 apartments along with a BOCES training center for nursing students.
July 30, 2025 – Celebrating the groundbreaking of Binghamton University’s new Lecture Hall.
July 28, 2025 – With President & CEO Mark Bordeau and Director of Policy, Programs, & Partnerships Sarah DeFrank during a visit to the Food Bank of the Southern Tier.
July 26, 2025 – Had a great time at the JC Rotary Carousel Festival, put on by our wonderful local Rotary Clubs.
July 23, 2025 – Attended the 150th Broome County Fair to congratulate the Broome County Agricultural Society for organizing the Fair since 1871.
