Public service has always been a commitment of mine, and it is of the utmost importance that I continue to advocate for health, wellness, and education for my community. While I am advocating for all the children in my district, as a mother, I am my children’s most prominent advocate.

Recently, my son, TJ, has been identified as benefiting from early intervention for speech and behavior. Early intervention is designed to help young children (from birth to 3 years old) who may have developmental delays or disabilities. This can manifest in children who are not learning, playing, growing, talking, or walking like other children their age. The early intervention program helps families set important goals for their children and helps create a specific plan to meet them.

As any parent can understand, this period is crucial for his development and well-being. I am fully committed to providing him with the necessary care and support. As a result, I am ensuring that he receives the love, guidance, encouragement, and dedicated time he needs.

Given the importance of this period for TJ, I may not be as available to attend things happening around the district. I assure you that my commitment to serving our community remains steadfast. My dedicated team will continue to work diligently to ensure that while TJ and I embark on this journey, work in District 79 is still being done, and concerns are still being addressed.

Lastly, if you notice that your child isn’t doing things that other children their age are doing, please seek support from your child’s pediatrician. There’s no shame in getting help early!
