Friend Officially Takes Office
Assemblyman Christopher Friend (R- Big Flats) today was officially sworn in as the representative of the 137th Assembly District. Friend, along with 16 other incoming members, took the oath of office administered by Acting New York Supreme Court Justice and former assemblyman Craig J. Doran. Friend was accompanied by family for the ceremony, which was held in Hearing Room B of the Legislative Office Building.
“Joining the New York State Assembly as the representative of the 137th District is a great honor,” said Friend. “Taking the oath of office is a humbling and exciting experience. I look forward to working with my new colleagues to make the state a better place for families and businesses.”
Prior to his election to the New York State Assembly, Friend served as a Chemung County legislator. Friend replaces Assemblyman Tom O’Mara, who was elected to the state Senate.
“This was a very special day for me that I was thankful to share with my family. It is time to start working on creating private sector jobs, providing meaningful tax relief, and reducing state spending. This new year offers an opportunity for officials from both sides of the aisle to come together and work toward a better New York.”
