Friend Calls On Majority To Pass Women’s Equality Bills Separately
Assemblyman Christopher S. Friend (R,C,I-Big Flats) is calling on the Assembly Majority to stop playing politics with the Women's Equality Agenda. The Senate is supporting New York women by voting on the merits of each point individually, and currently, five have passed that chamber unanimously.
“There are three days of session left, and for the Speaker to prohibit a vote on each of these bills is quite disingenuous and demonstrates a lack of compassion toward women,” said Friend. “Passing the 10 points separately in both houses would guarantee some additional rights, protections and safety measures for women, rather than allowing another year to pass by without acting. The Assembly Majority must not use women’s equality as yet another political tool here in Albany.”
