Friend: Speaker Heastie A Chance To Start Over On Ethics
February 4, 2015
Assemblyman Chris Friend (R,C,I – Big Flats), who had been a vocal critic of former Speaker Sheldon Silver, is calling on his Assembly colleagues to not squander this opportunity to reform the Chamber.
“This is the first change in Assembly leadership in two decades, and the circumstances surrounding it have created a perfect storm for ethics reform,” Friend said. “For years, our Conference has stood up to the status quo of Albany corruption, and now we finally have members of the Majority joining our call to overhaul the Chamber. When we return to Albany next week, our first order of business should be ethics reform. We’re all on the same page; we have the momentum, let’s do it.”
