“Albany’s culture of corruption is wrought with serious ethical problems. In the past decade, nearly 20 state elected officials have been indicted and convicted. Allowing for personal expenses, including childcare, to be paid for out of campaign finances creates yet another loophole where quid pro quo behavior can take foot again. The author of this legislation should have at least included a requirement to have this money reported as 1099 income. As the bill is written, it just leaves much room for abuse of campaign funds.”
